Gulf Shield Roofing

Complete Spray Foam Roof Remediation

HOME SWEET HOME......

6,000 Sq. Ft. Concrete Tile Removal, Spray Foam Remediation

This project was much more than a roof replacement. Our homeowner was experiencing severe issues related to the existing spray foam insulation and was unable to comfortably live in her home, forcing her to temporarily relocate to an Airbnb.

Gulf Shield Roofing developed a complete remediation and roofing plan designed to remove the existing spray foam, rebuild the roof system from the decking up, improve attic ventilation, and ultimately get the homeowner back home.

Concrete Tile Removal

Concrete tile removal requires significantly more planning, labor, equipment, and debris management than a typical asphalt shingle tear-off. Concrete tiles are extremely heavy, and removing thousands of square feet of tile creates a tremendous amount of dust, broken material, and job-site debris.

It may also be necessary to repair or replace any damaged roof decking or substrate.

Improved Attic Ventilation & Interior Restoration

Proper ventilation was another important component of the project. Three attic fans were incorporated into the new roofing system to improve airflow and help exhaust trapped heat from the attic.

Our team also completed associated drywall repairs and finishing work inside the home, allowing Gulf Shield Roofing to manage the project beyond the exterior roofing work.

Materials:

Owens Corning Duration® Architectural Shingle Roofing System

With the roof structure completely prepared and re-decked, Gulf Shield Roofing installed a premium peel-and-stick underlayment, providing a secondary water barrier across the roof deck for an added layer of protection against Florida’s heavy rain and wind-driven storms.

The new roof was finished with Owens Corning Duration® dimensional architectural shingles in Williamsburg Gray, transforming the home from its original heavy concrete tile roof into a beautiful, high-performance asphalt shingle roofing system.

The result was a complete Owens Corning architectural shingle roofing system designed to provide long-term waterproofing, durability, ventilation, and curb appeal for this Florida home.

Summary

From removing thousands of square feet of heavy concrete tile and the existing roof decking to manually extracting the spray foam, completely re-decking the home, installing new underlayment, architectural shingles, attic ventilation, and completing interior drywall repairs — our team executed the entire project in approximately one week.

Projects like this require more than a roofing crew. They require experience, manpower, equipment, logistics, and a team capable of coordinating every phase of a complex roof replacement.

Most importantly, after being displaced from her home, the homeowner was able to move back in shortly after completion and enjoy her home again.

A complex project. A complete roofing transformation. And a homeowner finally able to come home.
